Abbess (President): 

Pride was busy (and obnoxious), we made a good presence known, no bad noise.

After meeting will pay for pride tent but to be discussed in financial report.

Overall good pride month. Tabled the queer care closet, good traction. More in Old Business.

Great job y’all, we all stayed hydrated and good!

Mistress of Novices (Vice President):  

Membership- Cersei messaged to request sabbatical, to be tabled for executive, about to make e6, has a lot going on with the military, with the promotion it’s gonna be busier, plans to return once acclimated.

Pretty busy but not as busy as past couple of years, community was still very open arms so it was good. We had pride kick off at mjs, portsmouth pride with sister mary and self, Pride in the Peake, Norfolk Pride was cut short due to storms but went well. Lots of folks went to mjs after, night cap at rainbow cactus, va beach was a little smaller but went good. They secluded it to the grassy area and food trucks.

Dave and Busters drag brunch a few members were there. Sister Spikes, Ace, Cersei but not sure who else. Busy month overall.

Malarkey asks if manifestation reports are wanted for any manifestation with the Boston Sisters. MoN speaks to the preference of Boston Sisters, that they want far flungs to keep in touch with their MoN.

Ian, as UNPC rep, says it would certainly show collaboration.

Current balance 315.19 total, one expense but made an error on the report, on 6/29 accidentally used card to make a SVAPAH, we already owe them money, there’s a couple ways we can go about correcting it. Suggest a reimbursement then payment, to keep the books clean.

Nora is interesting in sending a checklist for each house, so everyone can get caught up or see where they are, intends to do so next month to have a list of what’s left to do

Traci mentions going over the checklist, only thing missing is the formal headpiece design and the P&Ps. 

Malarkey asks for specifics of coronet, or identifiable attire items and clarification

Kim speaks to submitting application for elevation, you want some type of application presented to the UNPC and something similar when going from aspirant to mission status, recommends a page on your website to everything that is needed for that application, links to manifestations, novice projects, all of that to assist the unpc would be very helpful.

What’s going on with the printing of the tags (Abbess to Ian)

Ian states there’s issues with the overall placement, and is working on it

Sacral brings up issues with titles, saying we can just do without it

Nora suggests just going with the names as well, and some other item with the official titles for roles

Traci mentions customizable stickers.

New Business

Email from Sister Adora Bull from SF, see emails.

Regarding Hunky Jesus film. 8/15 and 19, asking if we want to support the screenings, offering blessing and so forth. 

Abbess details the Hunky Jesus element, the history, and thinks it would be great for collaboration with other houses, great opportunity to grow and expand. 

Malarkey asks “Why Carolina”, Abbess explains it’s a cultural film festival circuit, that particularly in Durham boasts UNC, they have a decent alphabet soup community. 

Sacral mentions there are three houses there in Carolina, mostly on the western side, The Johnston City, Greensboro, and Ashville. Traci mentions they closed their doors.

Traci makes the suggestion that if we know independent theater. Malarkey mentions the live theater spaces in Norfolk, Sacral mentions the virginia queer film festival, outlife 757 Eric Hause, has contact on facebook, he’s very tied to the community but recently suffered the loss of his partner. Abbess knows two theaters, The Commodore in Portsmouth, and The Naro. Traci mentions cross house cooperation, working with SF and Chicago. 

Abbess asks Sacral to reach out to Hause, and is himself looking up the Naro.

Malarkey mentions speaking to all possible resources as inner communication gets projects off the ground and mentions Patrick Mullins.  

Jorge heard from Sacral that Ivana was setting up Queer Care Closet, they exchanged information on the topic. They clarify the Abbess’ Novice Project, personal hygiene items and other things that could help out the houseless. QCC is designed to give grace and dignity to folks. There are some at the life center. Jorge spoke to Ryan with the nighthawks and he’s willing to help fund supplies. Abbess mentions previous funding from the Nighthawks. TAP has committed to two years for it. Cody donated supplies.

Abbess will reach out after the meeting to discuss further.

Jorge wants to help, already is part of projects like 757 fridges and pantries, also Sebash with an outdoor pantry. Any help they can give, accepting cases, exchanging supplies and offers to be a connection to many pantries throughout the area. 

They discuss particulars of contents. 

Mary let us know that duty calls, we love them. 

Abbess intends to move to executive session, but realizes with Traci’s help that we might not have a quorum. All discuss that we can still have a discussion.

Everything in the P&P committee chat, spare one part Cecelia, mentions anyone can go in and approve of disapprove, would like the attention of the house. Ian makes a point of order, wanting clarification on what we’d be voting on. Sacral wanted to do the vote at the last meeting. Abbess recommends that we post the original and the changes to be reflected, section by section. 

Sacral offers a link so the original can be posted. 

Malarkey mentions the previous posted content in slack.

Sacral offers that they went through that chat from its inception, it took some time, she consolidated all suggestions, all not made are in one section and should be one of the last things in that chat. Can link to the og posting of the og P&Ps. Ian clarifies if it’s the version 2 or the original approved. Sacral says both. 

Ian suggests we use the working document in it’s last iteration, that document has the previously approved 2nd version, could do some magic with google docs and many agree. Sacral confirmed what she was asking and concurred. Grateful for the help. 

Abbess and Sacral go over collaborating. 

Ian and Sacral previously spoke about working on the website.

Loves the suggestion of the links of various items from Kim. Hoping to have a finalized P&Ps to present to co-moms. 

Ian mentions the sabbatical request as per p&ps needn’t be voted on, only needs to mention it to the abbess. Sacral discusses the confuses, the MoN being part of the change, is a suggested change. 

Abbess brings to the minutes that Sister Cercei has requested and is currently on sabbatical, with pending promotion to e6 and the adjustment.
